Holiday Homes
New Appeal
We finally did it! In December 2022 we raised enough money to purchase a brand new holiday home but
the ground rent is around £9,000 each year before we even start on the maintenance, gas and electric
etc. so donations are still in great need. The new holiday home was an essential purchase because the
lease was expiring on our previous two lodges. Only having one holiday home now is challenging as
demand is great but we have broken down the weeks into short breaks in the winter months and this is
helping to accommodate more families. We are grateful to everyone who donated towards our new
holiday home including UK Parking Control who donated a massive £11,055 and Team Green from
Green Retreats completed the 3-peaks Challenge in September 2018 and raised a magnificent £2,000.
Our own 20th anniversary charity ball at Missenden Abbey in May 2019 also raised an astounding
£9,000. Please visit this link to view the extensive facilities on offer at Hoburne Naish where our holiday
home is sited:

We will continue to update with how we're doing towards our total.
It all began with our very first holiday home, a two bedroomed cabin chosen by Thomas Ball himself in
2001. In September 2008 the lease expired on this beautiful little home that was know as "Tom's
Retreat". We still had "T.J's" a three bedroomed lodge that we purchased in 2005 but this wasn't enough
to cope with the high demand for holidays due to the charity becoming known to a much wider
geographical area. To avoid disappointing families we immediately purchased a new lease in 2008 on a
two bedroomed caravan "Tom's Trailer" but we always hoped that something bigger and better would fall
into our price range. After a two year appeal and many very generous donations, we purchased another
three bedroomed lodge in 2010 and sold Tom's Trailer. This wonderful holiday home was almost identical
to "TJ's" and we named it simply "Tom's". Both our lodges accommodated 6 - 8 people and were sited at
Hoburne Naish Holiday Village, Christchurch Road, New Milton, Hampshire, our new lodge is on the
same fantastic site.
We would like to thank everyone who made donations towards our previous holiday homes, in particular
Dun and Bradstreet who donated almost £22,000, The Penn and Tylers Green Super Fun Run
Committee who donated £10,000, White Leaf Golf Club in Princes Risborough who donated £6,800 and
"Tom's school" The Misbourne in Great Missenden for donating £1,600. These are just some of the many
donations that have helped to provide hundreds of holidays for sick children over the years. We are also
immensely grateful to John Lewis High Wycombe for making several donations to furnish the previous
homes and to Whiteleaf Furniture in Princes Risborough for donating and delivering much needed
furniture over the years. We are hoping that many companies and individuals will get behind us again
and support the running of our new holiday home from 2023 onwards.
To help with the running costs of our holiday lodges, the trustees occasionally rent them out to the
general public at very competitive rates.
Holidays can make such a difference to children suffering from cancer and their families. Please make a
donation towards the upkeep of our homes.
